1. How does BigYobi work?

BigYobi is a new and exciting domain name and trademark search solution, developed by Safenames. Although there are websites and programs on the market, which can either provide the client with .com domains which are registered or other companies offering trademark watching service. BigYobi is the first system that has combined all domain name extensions (e.g. .com, de, co.uk, .jp, etc - 244 in total) and trademark databases (WIPO, CTM, UK, Japan, Germany, etc.) into one simple application, allowing you, the customer, immediate identification of all domain names, trademarks and intellectual property infringements on your brands.

2. What can I search for?

BigYobi includes a very extensive search facility. From a simple Domain Watch (a report sent to you when any details change on the domain name, e.g. nameserver changes, or change of ownership), to a corporate Global Combined Search (searching the entire world for domains and trademarks owned by a large international company).

The different types of BigYobi searches include:

2.1 Global Combined Search

Perform a global search of your brands across all generic and country code domain names. This search cross-references your domain names against brand names and trademark databases.

This service will discover revenue diversion and trademark infringement of your brand names.

Additional search settings allow mistype techniques to further identify brand theft.

Identifies domain names that are parked by pay-per-click providers.

2.2 Trademark Searches

Trademark Searches can be performed across the world's major trademark databases.

World: (WIPO)
Europe: (OHIM), UK (UKPO), Germany (DPMA), Belgium, Netherlands, Luxembourg (BENELUX)
America: (USPTO), Canada (CIPO)
Asia: China (SIPO), Japan (NCPIO), Australia (IPA)

Search for trademarks containing similar words or similar images based on Vienna classifications.

Searches can be exported into Excel and Adobe PDF formats.

2.3 Bulk Domain Checker

Allow owners of large portfolios of domain names to pro-actively check their domain names against all the trademark databases, to insure they are not infringing on any other person's or company's rights.

2.4 Domain Alert Service

Receive email alerts of any new domain name registered that contains a keyword the same or similar to your brand or mark.

2.5 Domain Watch Service

Watch domain names for changes to registrant / admin contacts and nameservers.

2.6 Domain Dispute Search

Perform gTLD and ccTLD searches of past disputes for domain names, registrants, decisions and rulings.

2.7 WHOIS Information gathering tool

Provides a report on any suspicious domain including a snapshot of the website, the whois record, the trademarks that are being abused, the web hosting details and meta-tag information. The report is produced as a PDF file and is date / time stamped.

2.8 Daily and weekly updates

100% coverage of all gTLD and 99.9% of all ccTLD domain names.

Daily updates to registered domain names.

Daily and weekly updates of trademark registrations / new applications, and domain dispute cases.

Receive a weekly subscription of any new domain name registrations or trademark applications in one or more countries.

3. Who uses BigYobi?

Subscribers include group or holding companies keen to use BigYobi as part of their intellectual property protection strategy. Professional practices, such as lawyers and accountants, and marketing and PR companies also use the service as an easy, low-cost way to add value to their services for their clients. Since BigYobi creates a useful opportunity for them to stay in touch with their clients, many fund the subscription charges from their own marketing budget.

4. Why should I use BigYobi?

It can be damaging if the investment and reputation in your company name is eroded or destroyed because another business, whether deliberately or inadvertently, introduces a same or similar name or brand into the market.

5. What is brand protection?

This service generates regular reports of any domain names that are registered with our clients' details listed within. This level of awareness is becoming increasingly important to our existing clients for intellectual property ownership and trademark infringements. An example of this service can be demonstrated with one of Safenames’ clients: Safenames recently reported to KLM Royal Dutch Airlines that a domain name had been registered under “wwwklm.com” (please note the missing “.”) This web site advertises low cost flights and competing services.
